I had never heard of or have seen the SleekEZ grooming tool until my friend at our boarding stable stopped me one day to show me her new Amazon find. I was not impressed by its seemingly simple appearance but that completely changed when she let me use it on my horse.
The tool she had (and the one I bought) is the larger version which is 10 inches. There are a couple of other versions that are smaller, but for horses, I like this one.
The blade is the part I didn’t like at first. It seemed too small, sharp, and inadequate to groom a horse. I bought one in March when both of my horses were in full shedding mode. My large gray gelding has a thick, heavy coat, and to my surprise he LOVED this tool. He would actually lean into it as I swiped it down his coat.
Even my soft-skinned, sensitive Arabian liked it. I still use it even in the summer, and it helps remove dirt, stains, and excess hair. This can be used on dogs and cats too, although I haven’t tried it on my pets at home. Yet 😁.
To use the tool, simply swipe it down their coat and watch the hair and dirt fly off! Don’t press too hard and use strokes as if you were using a stiff brush.
I was able to get most of my horses winter coats off within several days of using this tool and am very pleased with this purchase. I plan on getting my horsey friends one as a gift!
I have the usual curry combs and stiff brushes but have added the SleekEZ to my arsenal of grooming tools. It is effective, light, and sturdy, and the wooden grip/handle is thick enough that you can use it with ease.
